The Gerard B3 and Jimi Hendrix Story

Seen in this photo, taken one night at Electric Lady Studio in N.Y.C. Bob Levine Jimi's US manager, Gerard Jerry Guida, and the Legendary Jimi Hendrix. Taking a break from working on Jimi's new concept adding Gerard's Hammond B3 to his Electrifying Guitar. I remember Jimi giving me a

wha-wha pedal and an Echo Plex to put on to my Hammond B3.

I also remember Bob Levine calling me one night to meet up with Jimi at Electric Lady Studio

at 2:00am in the morning, Jimi pulled a Tape out of Hey Baby, that was already recorded.

and wanted to experiment with me on how my Hammond with no Lesley speaker on it,

would sound going straight into a Marshal Amp.

Which you will hear in this Rare Recording from that night.....

Unfortunately, after Jimi's untimely passing, this tape with many others were lost. Thankfully Jimi had made 2 cassette copies  from the master. which he gave one to me and kept the other for himself. Jimi was easy to work with, and he new how to bring the best out of you.

Only just recently I have found this one of a kind recordings of being with Jimi Hendrix in the studio. How magical was it to find this recording.

I spent about 8 months on and off with Jimi. My Hammond B3 was flown to the

Shokan  House from California.

I spent some of the time at the Shokan House Up State New York,

wear Jimi had a number of musicians there working on new Ideas that he wanted to develop.

I was at the house for just a short while a few months, Later on that year I was back in New York City

where i was spending some time in the studio with Jimi,

This was an exciting time for me in my life. But three day's after the last night of recording,

Jimi Hendrix left to visit his girlfriend in London and told me he would see me when he returns.

Then the news came on TV one night that Jimi Hendrix died. What a shock to all of us.

And now after all these years, from a dear friend back in the 60's, I was given this photo.

Also Below the picture you can find a video of Bob Levine

Jimi's US Manager telling how he was

involved in bring Gerard Jerry Guida and Jimi Hendrix togather.

This Custom Built OCTAVIA Box was built by

Roger Mayer for Jerry Guida

As I stated earlier, I remember Jimi giving me a

Wha-Wha pedal and an Echo Plex to use on my Hammond B3. During that time Jimi also introduced me to Roger Mayer and asked Roger if he would make some kind of OCTAVE box for my Hammond B3 organ. After about a month Roger contacted me and showed me this very cool suitcase with an Octave built into it. and other filters that would affect the sound of the B3.

There is faint background parts mixed into the track using this box along with the Wha-Wha pedal and Echo Plex.

that I played on "Hey Baby"

I have decided it was time to pass on this part of my history with Jimi Hendrix
